Mekus Tanager is proud to have worked with this prestigious Private College in Michigan on a 26 acre Master Plan for their future Memorial Park. Primary goals for the Master Plan include: providing a dignified final resting place for College alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the college; affirming and encouraging the Christian faith; paying homage through symbolism to the critical values of the College; inspire visitors to honor and live up to the legacy of those interred within; contextually tie the design aesthetic to the College’s established visual identity and architecture; and creating a ‘park like’ atmosphere that is beautiful and takes advantage of the site’s unique topography.
The Master Plan calls for a phased implementation of development, and includes a variety of burial options, feature areas, buildings, and operational support spaces to support the Memorial Park. The Master Plan designates various areas for a variety of burial options including: traditional, cremation, infant burial, mausoleums, and cremation gardens. Feature areas and buildings include: a formal entrance and information kiosk beyond; a Quadrangle area with pillars, walkways, columbaria, and a feature area with a Christian cross; an outdoor committal chapel; phased mausoleums; a US Flag pole and veterans memorial wall; water feature and naturalistic burial areas; and an operations and support facility.
