Project Description
Located in North Lauderdale, Florida, Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral home is a quiet and serene cemetery which serves both the Jewish and non-sectarian communities.
To help expand the cemetery, Mekus Tanager developed a master plan for a new parcel of land adjacent to the existing cemetery. To continue the cemetery’s tradition of serenity, quiet, and comfort, the cemetery is laid out according to traditional Jewish customs, as well as with areas for cremation and for family reflection gardens and areas. Surrounding the exterior of the parcel are mausoleum buildings, which will help keep the interior peaceful and more private.
Additionally, due to the adjacency of the existing cemetery, the design blends elements and the character of the existing cemetery to maintain a cohesive atmosphere between the two, and the master plan calls for the new cemetery development to appear as though both were planned and developed simultaneously.
