Project Description

The eighty-year-old Winnetka Community House, which was originally a part of the First Congregational Church, has evolved over the years to respond to the needs and functions of the surrounding community. As a private, non tax-supported organization, the Community House depends on a broad base of community support for its existence. Its need to upgrade and expand its facilities is due largely to the growing number of families in the surrounding area combined with the high demand for the types of programs offered by the Community House.

The Master Plan completed outlines recommendations for improved space usage, better zoning of activities, new space additions and site improvement. Building modifications are to include four prime groups of users: the Fitness Center, Theatre/Events, Youth Enrichment, and Tenants.

The combination of all of the above areas created a unified and cohesive campus with improved internal organization, accessibility and circulation. The goal to develop a proactive plan that addresses both short and long term needs and objectives to improve the quality of community life and vision of the Winnetka Community House was successfully accomplished.
