Project Description

Mekus Tanager worked with the historic Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas on a Master Plan and Tree Inventory & Preservation Study. Primary goals for the Master Plan include: honoring Oakwood Cemetery’s history and preserving the natural beauty of the cemetery; providing the Waco community with increased diversification of burial options, including a focus on adding cremation inventory, and assisting with flexible yet structured planning for operations, future endeavors, and real-estate acquisitions for future cemetery expansion.

The Master Plan will call for a phased implementation of developments and will increase available burial options, add feature areas and cremation gardens with beautiful landscaping, and increase the ability for the cemetery to serve the local community and families with additions such as a new Committal Shelter, the Sanctuary with a Chapel & Family Center, and other areas.
