Project Description

The new Chapels and Administration Complex at All Saints Cemetery resulted from Mekus Tanager’s successful bid in the design competition held by the Archdiocese of Chicago. The new complex is the Archdiocese’s first LEED Certified building. It received LEED-NC Gold Certification for new construction from the US Green Building Council.

Mekus Tanager’s design of the space reinforces the Archdiocese’s formal commitment to sustainable standards, land planning, and building design. The new complex consolidates cemetery operations including: administrative offices, chapels, and maintenance and work rooms. The sustainable features of the Complex include a vegetated “green” roof that deflects heat in the summer and insulates the building during the winter, and the implementation of efficient systems and fixtures helps lower the operational cost of the building.
