Project Description
With the rise in cremation, one way cemeterians have adapted is to add columbaria to mausoleums and garden crypt complexes that were designed before cremation was popular.
Completed in 2007, Mekus Tanager designed the new garden columbaria addition to the Our Lady of Czestochowa Garden Mausoleum. Designed to complement the circular gazebo and art feature within, the new columbarium units were designed to vary in height, with the tallest columbarium at the center to provide a focal point for the artwork within the gazebo. Materials for the columbaria were chosen to complement and reflect the materials used in the original complex, and the new columbariums add 344 niches.
